Using a running stitch, Kantha quilts are completely hand-sewn. Traditionally, Indian women would use the scrap fabric from recycled saris and kurtas that have run their course and stitch the fabric together to make a blanket or quilt. These blankets were often given as baby blankets or wedding presents. Each piece of fabric that would be incorporated into these blankets would hold the memories from the life lived in it— creating a family heirloom.

Modern Kantha blankets don't always hold the same significance but are still wonderfully unique pieces of artistry. No two blankets are the same— a true one-of-a-kind design element to your home. Due to the fully handmade nature of this product, we can not guarantee that each piece will exactly match the pictures shown, but will be very close.
